Research Areas of Specialization and Publications: Vegetable Breeding and Protected Cultivation; Authored 3 books and manuals; Published 75 research papers in journals of National and International repute and 60 popular articles.
Educational activities: Engaged in academic programs especially in handling courses to UG, PG, Ph.D., and part time Ph.D., Horticulture, and coordinated PG research program. Guided as Chairman for 12 M.Sc. (Hort.) and 5 Ph.D. (Hort.) scholars and member for 10 M.Sc., scholars in their research program.Evinced keen interest in support service to the institution such as Academic Coordinator for UG and PG programs, served as Research Coordinator in research stations and Unit officer of Arid Zone Fruit Crops at Regional Research Station, Aruppukottai.

Research Activities: A new technology on “Shade net cultivation of sweet pepper and paprika cultivars in tropical plains of Tamil Nadu” was developed and released as technology during 2007 from TNAU and an award was received. The other technologies viz., INM to overcome the physiological disorder of Zoning in beetroot, foliar application of boron to rectify the problem of curling of cucumber fruits under protected condition, organic manuring practices of palak to get quality greens with low oxalate and nitrate content, fertigation schedule of lettuce for protected condition, nano techniques to extend the post harvest shelf life of aggregatum onion and cucumber and moringa rootstock for grafting to induce off-season flowering were also developed.

The brinjal hybrids IC 374928-1 x ABSR-2 and Namakkal Local x ABSR-2 resistant to shoot and fruit borer, root knot nematode resistant tomato hybrid LE 812 x HN 2 and high yielding cherry tomato hybrids LE13 x Pusa Cherry Tomato 1 and LE 1223 x LE 13 were also developed. YVMV resistant genotypes of bhendi AE 65 and AE 64 were identified as resistant parents.

Extension Activities: As a Scientist in charge of the Scheme of B-Agriculture Plan 27 – URS, MG - Technological Demonstration in Precision Farming System (B 27 MG) sponsored by TANHODA during 2008-2009 was completed in a successful manner.
As a Principal Investigator of the scheme NADP M28 BS Scheme - “Capacity building of extension officials to transfer hybrid seed production technologies in vegetable crops (tomato and okra) to improve the entrepreneurial skill for uplifting the socio economic status of rural farmers”, Hybrid seed production techniques were demonstrated to the farmers of Coimbatore.
