Principal's Message

Dr. S.Parthiban is retired professor of TNAU, after completing his 33 years of noble service in TNAU and retired on superannuation on 31.12.2021. During his service, he worked as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor and Professor Head in various places such as Yercaud, Coimbatore, Trichirapalli, Periyakullam, Thadiyankudisai and Rayappanpatti.

He is a good academician. He was the member in Board of Studies in TNAU for UG, PG and Ph.D. studies. He guided 10 M.Sc and 4 Ph.D. students as chairman of advisory committee and obtained 10 Schemes. He has handled 56 courses for B.Sc. (Hort.), M.Sc.(Hort.) and Ph.D(Hort.) students.

He is a good administrator. He worked as Associate Professor and Head, HRS, Thadiyankudisai for 3 years, Professor and Head Department of Vegetable, Fruit Science, Horticulture College of Research Institute, Periyakulam for 3.6 years. Founder professor and Head, Grape Research Station, Anamalayanpatti for 5 years, Professor and Head, Department of Spices and plantation crops for 2 years and Dean (Hort.) in-charge, Horticulture College of Research Institute (Women), Trichy for 2 years. During his services he worked as Farm Manager, NSS coordinator and Professor (Farms).

He is a good researcher. He has been awarded two best poster presentations at National Research Centre for Citrus, Nagpur. He has been awarded with certificate for 3 variety release of Manila Tamarind – PKM-1, PKM-4 and PKM- 5(SA) Sapota. He is specialised in fruit research and worked as officer in- charge of AICRP-ICAR – tropical are sub tropical fruits for 9 Years. He also one among scientists, responsible for the release of wood apple- PKM-1, Jamun-PKM-1, Jack fruit –PKM-1 and released two horticultural technologies on Sapota & Mango high density planting (HDP). He established a new grapes research station at Anamalayanpatti under NADP-RKVY scheme with an estimated budget of Rs.200 Lakhs in an area of 28.48 acres and assembled 150 grape varieties, and distributed 7 lakhs Dogridge rootstock to the grope formers.

He published 14 International articles, 25 National articles, 23 Popular articles and 6 books and 4 book chapter, He visited Western Sydney, Hawkesbury, Australia and facilitated in implementing the programme on “Experiential learning” in the TNAU Curriculum.
